I recently spend 1-2 hours making a new ability which the starcraft editor decided to, instead of saving my progress, delete the progress and waste two hours of my time. Not only that, but I noticed that the water has been severely disfigured since the dependency fiasco. I may have to remove all water which is something I definitely am not happy about.
The RPG will be on hold for a little bit for personal reasons, but I will be back soon to work on it.

SC2 - RPG Blog is Up
Welcome to my SC2 blog. I used to make RPG maps back when SC1 was the only game in town. I've tried my hand at LBP and the system just didn't allow for much beyond fancy platforming, and believe my I tried. When SC2 finally came out, I was in awe of the map maker. I made a single RPG for WC2 but I skipped it for the most part after I found the triggering system to be too clunky and too complicated for me (at the time).
SC2 blows my mind, and since I have massive b.net limitations staring me in the face, (only five publish spots? C'mon blizzard.) I will be taking my time and making quality RPGs to play. I've posted some videos on http://reddit.com/r/starcraft and I got quite a bit of good feedback from that crowd so I decided to make a blog so people can keep up with my progress.
Here's a recap of where I am so far in my first RPG:
- Main character created
- UI/Controls work like WoW
- Quest system and quest log in place/working
- Leveling system working
- Custom upgrades working (incomplete)
- Hearth stone feature (warp to towns) working
- Death system working
- Multiplayer working (some tweaks needed)
Here are my goals:
- Write a compelling story (the bad guy(s) wont feel cliche, or bad for no reason.)
- Give quests that don't feel generic. (dynamic quests that change based on behaviors, and a large variety of quests)
- Give an experience that's worth playing multiple times.
- Create massive boss battles that feel insane in a FF11 kind of way.
- Have end-game quests, and add new quests like add-ons after the game has been completed

The Recent Disaster
I'm working on finishing custom upgrades, but I was set back recently by a dependencies error that glitched my main hero. It was so bad, I couldn't even select the unit to delete it. The map would freeze if anything associated with the broken Hero was touched. After a few days of repair work I finally got it back to where it was today. I'm happy to say that the glitch wasn't for nothing. I was able to use a new character model that looks cooler, and I started planning ahead for a possible secret unit that transforms the main hero into something much bigger.I also found a bunch of great story campaign units that I was looking for as well. Everything seemed normal with my map until last night when I tested it online and the scripts were corrupted. I was controlling my friends unit and his camera was completely messed up. I found out that there was one variable that was messed up. One small mistake can make things go crazy. Now that everything is caught up, I can finally start adding new content to the map.
What's Next
Right now I am working on completing the upgrade system, but I also have to create a custom ability as well. I was able to create one custom ability but it didn't work out exactly as I had hoped. This RPG will be a stepping stone in learning the editor, but I won't release garbage. Check back here for progress reports and I'll let you know when I have an estimated release date. Thanks for the support so far!
